Scientists have issued a stark warning: fossil fuels are causing global climate destruction, and we have only a few years left to cut the world’s climate pollution in half.
Despite publicly claiming to lead, Citi is ignoring science and perpetuating the colonial project of extraction, exploitation, and eradication of people and ecosystems. Since the Paris Climate Agreement was signed in 2016, Citi has stubbornly funded new fossil fuel projects around the world—including new fossil gas export terminals in the U.S. Gulf South, oil and gas drilling in the Amazon rainforest, and oil and fracked gas pipelines through Indigenous lands.
The bank’s board and executives are hoarding wealth at the expense of communities’ health, livelihoods, and safety. But we’re rising up and resisting Citi’s financing of climate destruction, and organizing for community-led solutions to the ecological and economic crises we face. Together, the many can defeat the money.
